Combating Climate Change for Living Landscapes

Raintree Foundation is committed to promoting dignity and wellbeing for both our planet and its people by addressing the urgent issue of climate change. Through our unique landscape based approach, we strive to empower the communities we work with to thrive, while also regenerating and preserving the natural systems that sustain us all. We achieve this by implementing sustainable development strategies that prioritize environmental health, climate action and social equity. We work closely with community members to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met. By measuring success in both human and environmental outcomes, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing resilience to climate impacts, we can continuously improve our approach and ensure a brighter future for generations to come.

Raintree Foundation, established by the Dandekar Family, aims to address the challenges posed by climate change. We are committed to establishing a development model in sync with natural systems such that our communities thrive and the natural systems they inhabit regenerate and prosper. We want to create a world that fosters community stewardship of the environment. We are committed to building sustainable, resilient and thriving ecosystems.

Pilot Project - Velhe

Velhe is located in the Western Ghats area which is a global biodiversity hotspot. This region has some of the lowest human development indicators and a landscape which lends itself to climate action interventions. Raintree Foundation is working in several villages in this region to protect it from the onslaught of the effects of climate change while strengthening the local communities that live there.

Sustainable Development Goals

Through our programs we impact 15 out of the 17 pre-requisite sustainable development goals in our programs as prescribed by the UNITED NATIONS (UN) guidelines
